Social Networking
Social networking used to be about going and hanging out with your friends, going to the movies, dinner dates, and being active in each other’s lives, but today social networking is completely different. Now to keep up with, “friends”, you have to have a Facebook, My Space or Twitter page. These social networking sites have turned real friendships into fake and even not existent relationships. Once you walk through that door everything changes. It seems that when you are on these sites that you can say anything that you want to and it doesn’t matter, but once you jump into that world it becomes very apparent that things are different. People use these sites to tell the people in their circles, or maybe even the whole world personal things about themselves, and can even post where they are, and what they are doing. On the internet you can be whatever you want to be, and that is what makes social networking through these sites so easy. You don’t have to be honest about everything, and you can have as many, “friends”, that you want. This isn’t necessarily a good thing though. The longer you are on these social networking sites the more you will notice how fake people act on them. Always showing off, trying to get attention, trying to get praise for something they have done, etc. Social networking is good for humans, but once you take human contact out of the picture and start involving computers to do the work for them then something is wrong. Technology was brought about to help us evolve as humans not to become lazy and sit on our butts to play pretend, or give out too much information to people who could care less about you in the first place. It is time that we all start going back to our roots, and stop being lazy. If you want a friend go out into the real world and find one, otherwise you are just wasting your time sitting in front of the computer. We need to focus more on ourselves, and less on what others are doing or saying on these social networking sites. Get out there meet real people and try to make a difference in the world.
